SPOCK206 Windows IBM SCSI Miniport Driver
Released June 2006
SPOCK206 is a high performance SCSI Miniport Driver for the IBM MCA SCSI Host Adapters and planar SCSI subsystems. SPOCK206 improves the disk transfer rates by 60% or more over the original Windows NT Spock driver and up to 15% over the Windows 95/98 Spock miniport driver.
SPOCK206 runs successfully on Windows 98SE in the presence of a Pentium CPU and IBM MCA SCSI host adapters. The driver supports the IBM SCSI adapter with cache (Spock), the IBM SCSI adapter (Tribble, without cache) and the IBM Fast/Wide SCSI-2 adapter (Corvette). The planar or onboard SCSI subsystems are supported too. Recently, support has been added also for the IBM Expansion Unit SCSI Controller and the IBM 7568 Industrial Computer SCSI Adapter.
There is a special installable version of SPOCK206 that transforms the LED display panel of PS/2 Server 95 to a driver status message monitor. This original invention has been extremely useful and time saving in the driver development phase.
SPOCK206 successfully passed the Microsoft Block Compatibility Test contained in the Windows 95 DDK, MSDN Collection. Driver testing has been done by the members of comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware, my sincere thanks to William R. Walsh, Louis Ohland and Jim Shorney for their invaluable testing work. See Notes below on the W98SE "bug".

AHA206 Adaptec AHA-1640 Windows SCSI Miniport Driver
Released June 2006
AHA206 is a SCSI miniport driver for the Adaptec AHA-1640 MCA SCSI host adapter and enables the successful operation of AHA-1640 on Windows 98SE running on a Pentium CPU. The driver is available only on this site, no affiliation with Adaptec.
AHA206 is a dedicated AHA-1640 driver with the benefits of the MCA Programmable Option Select (POS) concept. Adapter configuration is obtained from the AHA-1640 POS registers, any resource settings in the AHA-1640 Windows device panel are ignored and do not affect the correct operation of the AHA206 miniport driver.
Complementary testing services have been provided by William R. Walsh.

QSPOCK - Query SPOCK
Released Mai 2006
QSPOCK retrieves POS and adapter information, incl. adapter revision level, from the IBM MCA SCSI Host Adapters and planar SCSI subsystems. QSPOCK is a real mode DOS program and should be run for correct results only on true DOS.
• Download QSPOCK.
Notes and Acknowledgments
The 206 Series SCSI miniport drivers of MCABase enable the successful operation of MicroChannel SCSI host adapters under Windows 98SE on a Pentium CPU.
The I/O Supervisor of Windows 98SE rejects the combination of a MicroChannel SCSI host adapter and a Pentium CPU in the system. The Windows SCSI miniport drivers fail to initialize and fall back to real, DOS mode. This has been observed and verified for IBM, Adaptec and NCR MicroChannel SCSI host adapters. Windows 98SE on a 486 class CPU or Windows 95 on a Pentium CPU do not exhibit this erratic behaviour.
SPOCK206 fixes this Windows behaviour for the IBM MCA SCSI host adapters. The Adaptec AHA-1640 miniport driver has been also fixed and runs successfully in the combination MCA SCSI + Pentium + Windows 98SE.
I would like to express my best thanks to all testers at comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware for their invaluable work, and especially to William R. Walsh, Louis Ohland and Jim Shorney. Charles Lasitter has kindly honored the driver programming efforts with a donation to Doctors Without Borders, sincere thanks.
