Graphics Formats

This tab deals with the following categories of options:

Import (Viewer)

This area lets you choose the pen characteristics to be taken into account when opening an HPGL document.
Note that, except in raster format, the viewer does not support documents with multiple sheets.

To define the pen characteristics, click Configuration... to access the Import Configuration dialog box:

Printers

This option is activated provided that at least one HPGL printer has been setup.

If this option is selected, it means that the HPGL viewer uses the pen configuration of the HPGL driver you select in the list ("My HPGL Printer" in our example). This ensures a coherence between the selected HPGL printer and the advanced configuration parameters defined in the printer properties.

Local

This option is relevant when no specific HPGL printer has been defined.
If this option is selected, it means that the HPGL viewer uses the local pen settings you define in the HPGL Configuration dialog box.
To do so, click Settings... (which is activated as soon as you click Local) to open the HPGL Configuration dialog box:

This dialog box lets you define the characteristics of the pens that will be used in order to create a mapping between the original Version 5 document and the result in HPGL format.

Refer to the configuration scenario dedicated to HPGL printers for detailed information on how to define advanced HPGL configuration parameters.

When finished, click OK to validate and close the HPGL Configuration dialog box.

Export (Save As)

This category of options lets you define the advanced configuration options to be applied to the drivers listed below when saving a .CATDrawing document in another format using File > Save As.
The purpose of this option is to prepare your documents for printing by configuring the driver corresponding to the file format in which your document will be saved.

In Small Scale mode (i.e. when Small Scale is selected in Tools > Options > General > Parameters and Measures > Scale), Export options are grayed out because it is not possible to save a .CATDrawing document in external 2D formats (.cgm, .svg, .gl2, .ps, .pdf, .jpg and .tif).

For more information on the save of .CATDrawing documents in other formats, refer to Saving Documents in Another Format.

Save multisheet document in a single vectorial file

If this option is selected, all the sheets of your .CATDrawing document will be stored in a single file when saving the document in another format using File > Save As.
This option has no impact on objects in raster format (TIFF, BMP, etc.). For such objects, only the current sheet is saved, whether the option is selected or not.

Note that the only Version 5 viewer supporting multisheet information is the TIFF viewer.

If the option is cleared:

  • for PDF format, each sheet will be saved in a different file and therefore, there will be as many files as sheets. Each file name will be suffixed with "_Sheet_sheetnumber.fileformat", e.g. "MyDrawing_Sheet_1.pdf", "MyDrawing_Sheet_2.pdf", etc.
  • for the other supported formats (CGM, PS, etc.), only the current sheet will be saved in the generated file.

By default, this option is cleared.

Put current sheet as the first page of the vectorial file

This option is available only when Save multisheet document in a single vectorial file is selected.

If this option is selected, the current sheet of the .CATDrawing document will be displayed at the beginning of the generated file.

If this option cleared, the sheets will be saved in the same order as in the .CATDrawing document.

By default, this option is cleared.
