AIX Version 4.3 Messages Guide and Reference

Appendix A. Error Message Index

This section lists error message identification numbers and their associated explanatory articles.

Each message has a unique two-part identification number. The first part of the message is the component ID; the second part is the message ID. For example, with message 0001-007, the component ID is 0001, and the message ID is 007. In this section, look for the component ID first, then find the appropriate message ID component.

Specific recovery information is not provided for every message you may encounter. If there is no specific recovery information for a message, there is often a link to other information associated with that message component. For example, message component chmod command article.

If there are no specific recovery procedures for a particular message, go to the information on the command or operation that was being run at the time the message occurred. Unless otherwise noted, information is in command documentation.

To get information about a message, select the appropriate component ID from the following list. A list of all the message IDs associated with that component is displayed.
