Burning the CD ISO image onto a CDROM
for pSeries servers and RS/6000
All current microcode updates have been packaged on one CD-ROM image, along with a Discovery Tool that compares microcode levels on your system to current levels and allows you to select and update downlevel microcode.
AIX system requirements for the CD-ROM
Follow these steps to use all the functionality provided by the Microcode Discovery Tool on this CD.
1. Running the Microcode Discovery Tool requires a user ID with the primary group set to "system".
2. Use the following command to check the primary group (pgroup) setting for a user ID:
/usr/sbin/lsuser <user id>
3. If necessary, create a user ID with the pgroup set to "system". Currently, running the Java applet format of the tool as "root" is not supported.
4. Mount the CD-ROM by entering the following command:
mount -v cdrfs -r /dev/cd0 /cdrom
The CD-ROM contains a README file that provides installation instructions. Please read the entire README file before using the CD-ROM.
