MQSeries enables applications to use message queuing to participate in message-driven processing. With message-driven processing, applications can communicate with each other on the same or different platforms, by using the appropriate message queuing software products. For example, MVS/ESA and OS/400 applications can communicate through MQSeries for MVS/ESA and MQSeries for OS/400 respectively. With MQSeries products, all applications use the same kind of messages; communications protocols are hidden from the applications.

Any currently installed version of MQSeries must be removed before this LPP is installed. Old queue managers are automatically migrated when restarted. Queue manager migration is irreversible, so before installing the new version of MQSeries, you must back up your system.
