Resource Monitoring and Control Guide and Reference

Appendix B. Installation and Configuration

The RSCT Resource Monitoring and Control application is part of the installation of the base operating system and does not need any special post-installation or other steps. When a monitoring request is directed for a resource class provided by an inactive resource manager, the resource manager is implicitly started by the Resource Monitoring and Control (RMC) subsystem. To determine whether RSCT Resource Monitoring and Control is present on your system, issue the lssrc command (for example: lssrc -a) and look for the following:

  1. IBM.AuditRM (Audit Log resource manager)
  2. IBM.ERRM (Event Response resource manager)
  3. IBM.FSRM (File System resource manager)
  4. IBM.HostRM (Host resource manager)
  5. ctrmc (Resource Monitoring and Control subsystem)
Note: Always review the READ THIS FIRST document that accompanies the RSCT installation media for the latest information (/usr/sbin/rsct/README/rsct.core.README).

RSCT Resource Monitoring and Control Files

The RSCT Resource Monitoring and Control application is contained in the following file sets:

Executables for RMC and the resource managers are stored in the /usr/sbin/rsct directory.

Log files for RMC and the resource managers are in the /var/ct/IW/log/mc/ directory.
