Guide to Printers and Printing
Check the following items for the
host acting as the remote print server:
- Make sure that all
client machines (foreign hosts) are listed in the /etc/hosts.lpd file.
- Make sure that the
TCP/IP subsystem is running.
- Check for the existence
of the /usr/spool/lpd directory.
- Make sure that the
/etc/locks/lpd directory does not exist if the lpd daemon is not running.
- Make sure that both the
lpd daemon and the qdaemon are running.
- Check the Local Printer Checklist

Check the following items for
hosts printing to a remote print server:
- Verify that the queue
name and server name for the remote print server are correct in the
/etc/qconfig file.
- Make sure that the
TCP/IP subsystem is running.
- Make sure that the
qdaemon daemon is running.
