AIX Version 4.3 Package Guide for LPP Installation

Base Performance Tools Package

The Base Performance Tools package contains two filesets that are used for identifying and diagnosing performance problems.

Fileset Names

bos.perf.pmr Performance PMR Data Collection Tool

This fileset consists of a set of tools used to collect performance data required for the customer support team or business partner to open a performance related Problem Management Record (PMR). PerfPMR is a set of shell scripts that collects performance and configuration information to aid in the performance PMR process. The standard AIX performance and configuration commands are used, for example, iostat, vmstat, and sar. In addition, limited trace information is obtained for support personnel to use later while evaluating the PMR.

bos.perf.diag_tool Performance Diagnostic Tool

This fileset is a tool used to detect and report the presence of undesirable performance characteristics in an AIX system. The Performance Diagnostic Tool (PDT) operates continuously and generates incremental reports on the quality of system performance. PDT attempts to give a preliminary diagnosis of detected problems. PDT is intended mainly for system administrators, performance management personnel, and customer support.

Approximate Disk Space Required

The Base Performance Tools software requires approximately 0.2MB of disk space.
