Synopsis
Information on this page has been taken from documentation provided on the Internet by Invisible Software. Pointers to the Invisible Software website contributed by Louis Ohland.
The jumpers on the Invisible Ethernet/A Adapter board are used to select the ROM size and specify the buffer RAM size. The jumpers are preset at the factory to settings that are correct for most installations. The factory setting is to shorten pins 1 and 3 on jumpers W1, W2, W3, W4 and W5 for the default configuration of 16K ROM size and 16K RAM size.
Selecting the ROM Size
The Invisible Ethernet/A board can accept either a 16K ROM or a 32K ROM. The ROM size is selected by jumpers W1, W4, and W5. The board currently uses a 16K ROM. The ability to accept a 32K ROM has been provided to allow for a future upgrade.
Selecting the RAM Size
The Invisible Ethernet/A card has an on-board RAM that is used to store data being sent or received on the network. The board is shipped from the factory with 16K RAM. However, it can also accept 64K RAM. The RAM size is specified by jumpers W2 and W3.
Note: A larger RAM may give slightly better performance on computers that are used as file servers. If you upgrade the RAM, you must also upgrade one of the PAL chips on the Ethernet/A board. Contact Invisible Software for information on obtaining a RAM upgrade.
