Querying Cables with ENOVIA V5

This task explains how to query the database to select cables.

For a more detailed explanation, see Querying Cables in the ENOVIA Database.

Before querying, you need to identify the work packages in your VPM Navigator specifications tree that will be used for routing.

Import the desired work packages into the database, then set the context for these work packages. See the Electrical Cable Route Management User's Guide for more information.

1. With your document open, click the Manage Cables from Database button . The Electrical Cable Database: Get Cables dialog box displays.

Select the appropriate checkbox.

  2. To list cables connected to equipment, select the Connected to Equipment checkbox and click Next.

The Electrical Cable Database Select Cables by Equipment dialog box displays a list of 3-D equipment defined in the current context.

Select equipments from the list and click Next.

  3. To list cables defined in schematics, select the Defined in a Schematic checkbox and click Next.

The Electrical Cable Database Select Cables by Schematic dialog box displays a list of schematic work packages defined in the current context.

Select schematic work packages from the list and click Next.

  4. To list all the cables in the current context, select the All Cables in Database checkbox and click Next.
  5. The Electrical Cable Database Cable Selection dialog box displays after you query the database on the Electrical Cable Database: Get Cables dialog box, and click Next.

You can select cables according to their routing status by selecting one or more of the checkboxes under Select Rows with Status.

  • Select Not Routed to display cables that are not routed.
  • Select Partially Routed to display cables that are partially routed.
  • Select Fully Routed to display cables that are fully routed.
  • Select Out of Date to display cables that are out of date.

The appropriate rows of cables corresponding to your checkbox selections are highlighted. (Notice that in the Status column, the outing status of each cable matches your checkbox selection.) Now when you click a command button, the command applies to all the rows of cables that are highlighted.

No information displays for the listed cables (you see only ####) until you load the cable data. You must load cable data from the database for selected cables, or you cannot route the cables. For more detailed information, see Loading Cable Data from the ENOVIA Database.
