I have seen a write-up and documentation on the new barcode command in
PPFA/MVS. Is it available via a PTF for PPFA for AIX? This a great
great application development tool. We need it badly at my account.

That support is available now. Please obtain and install the latest
cumulative PTFs for PPFA for AIX (to compile the pagedef) and ACIF for
AIX (needed to process the pagedef) to get this support. Documentation
on the new BARCODE subcommand on the FIELD command is in the PPFA
User's Guide (S544-5284); this manual covers all platforms, including
AIX.
This function is available for both PSF for AIX Version 2 and PSF/6000
Version 1 Release 2. The ACIF and PPFA components are the same in both
PSF/6000 and PSF/AIX, so the latest PTFs to ACIF and PPFA will also
allow BCOCA support on existing PSF/6000 R2 systems as well as PSF for
AIX V2 systems.
For ACIF, the APAR was PN80403 (original PTF that closed this was
UN88110, but that has since been superseded; the latest cumulative
PTF is UN91601).
For PPFA, the APAR was PN54401 (original PTF that closed this was
UN88660, and that's still the latest).
Please note that new product tapes do not include maintenance. That's
why we recommend in Print Administration that the customer should always
order the latest PTFs from the Support Center when preparing for a new
install. Your customer will need to verify that the above mentioned
PTFs are installed. To do that they can use the lslpp -h command,
i.e.,
lslpp -h psf.\* (to see the latest installed PTFs for all components)
lslpp -h psf.acif (to see the latest installed PTF for ACIF)
lslpp -h psf.ppfa (to see the latest installed PTF for PPFA)
