Hi,

We have a customer that is using PSF6000 to print some applications. Now

they have a NP12 without IPDS and this printer is connected in Windows
NT by parallel cable. This Windows is a printer server and is receiving
data from AIX without pass for any driver. In AIX they created a remote
queue and in PSF they created the queue based in AIX remote queue. They
tried to print from PSF but they had problems with fonts. The variable
data is printing out of the right position. They changed the fonts and
they had a little better printing but it isn't perfect yet. The ainbe
is transforming this job in PCL 5, is there any PTF that I should
verify for this case?? Do you have any suggestion for this problem???

Thank you in advance
A:
One suggestion I would make is to create your AIX remote queue as a
"remote queue with local filtering". What this does is formats the
data on the RS/6000 (i.e. runs it through the AIX Virtual printer)
and then sends the data to the NT server in "passthrough" mode, telling
the NT server not to do anything to the data but just print it.

This works well for other LPD type print servers.

To do this you would do:

smitty mkpq
Local filtering before sending to print server
     IBM
ibm4312 IBM Network Printer 12 (**This "driver" must be
installed on the RS/6000 for this option to show up.)
Then put the name of the queue in the PCL 5E Emulation field.

Once this is created, you change your PSF AIX-Defined queue's device
options to point to this new AIX queue. You will need to "bounce" the
PSF queue for the changes to take place:

psfctl -dtu PSF_QNAME

I hope this helps. Thank you.
