My customer has a 3829 attached to PSF/6000 V1.2. They would like
to flush any jobs below a certain page count to reduce wear and
tear on the 3829. Is there a function to define a range of pages
or lines that a given printer will support? Is this function
available in PSF/6000 V1.2, PSF/AIX V2.1, or Printing Systems Manager?
A:
This capability is available through Printing Systems Manager (PSM)
| or Infoprint Manager for AIX
for printers it controls. PSM can drive either AIX or PSF for AIX V2
printers. That function is not available in either PSF/6000 V1 or
PSF for AIX V2.
| In PSM or Infoprint, there is a logical printer attribute called
"job-size-range-supported" which defines in bytes (not lines) the range
(lower and upper) of job sizes that the printer can accept.
