Help spotting jams and false jams in PSM and PSF/AIX.

Printer Systems (PRINT - NA/ATS)
Printing Systems Manager (PSM)
When my user prints from his PSF/MVS system and he has a paper
jam (or even if the system just thinks he had a paper jam), PSF/MVS and
the printer will print an error page with an APS711I message indicating
there was a jam and then back up in the output by a few pages (a jam
recovery distance, I am sure) and then begin printing again. At the end
of the job, there is a message data set. The quality checkers or the
operator can look for the messages page at the end of the job then
relatively easily find the page containing the APS711I message from
within the stack of output. The operator can then scan for duplicate
pages and remove them.
In contrast, when we are running on PSM and PSF/AIX, we receive a
0420-467 message at the end of job indicating there was a jam, but no
indicator page within the job to help find the point at which we need to
scan for duplicates. Is there anyway to enable PSM to print the error
indicating page? What makes this situation doubly of concern is that
the job in question is a check-printing job.
I have looked in PSM doc and search ViewBlue, but found no items that
help. Thanks for your input.
A:
I checked with development, and the printing of an error message page at
the point of a jam is not part of PSF/AIX, PSM, or Infoprint Manager for
AIX. Therefore, this function would be a new requirement.
Since both PSF/AIX and PSM have been withdrawn from marketing, it is
extremely unlikely that any new requirements will be considered. You
may wish to submit this requirement and the accompanying business case
to Alan Spence in Boulder for consideration for a future release of
Infoprint Manager for AIX.
Thanks for using ViewBlue.
