lppchk Error after Migration from AIX 4.1.5 to 4.2 -- Missing Requisite Software

Environment

Problem

After a migration from AIX Version 4.1.5 to 4.2.1, when lppchk -v is run, the following error message may appear:

         lppchk:  The following filesets need to be installed or
         corrected to bring the system to a consistent state:
         bos.rte v=4, r<2     (not installed; requisite fileset)

There are some filesets on the system that require bos.rte to be at AIX Version 4, Release < (prior to) 2, which means the system requires bos.rte at level 4.1.x.

Solution

Use Volume 2 of the install CD-ROM and run update_all. The lppchk error should not recur.
