Engineering and Scientific Subroutine Library (ESSL) Package Information

The ESSL package contains over 400 math routines highly tuned for POWER, POWER2, PowerPC (long precision), and Scalable POWERparallel (serial mode only) systems.

Fileset Names

essl.common.rte	ESSL Common to POWER and POWER2
	Contains files and programs used by the essl.rs1.rte and essl.rs2.rte filesets, including C and C++ header files and installation verification programs.
essl.rs1.rte	ESSL Commands and Libraries for POWER
	Contains the library for POWER and PowerPC processors.
essl.rs2.rte	ESSL Commands and Libraries for POWER2
	Contains the library for POWER2 processors.
essl.book.en_US	ESSL Online Documentation - BookManager
	Contains the guide and reference manual for use with BookManager.
essl.info.en_US	ESSL Online Documentation - InfoExplorer
	Contains the guide and reference manual for use with InfoExplorer.
essl.ps.en_US	ESSL Documentation - PostScript
	Contains the guide and reference manual in PostScript form.

Approximate Disk Space Required

The ESSL software requires approximately 82.1MB of disk space, which includes 7.3MB for InfoExplorer documentation and 22.2MB for PostScript documentation.

Special Migration Notes

The essl.info.en_US fileset requires that the bos.info.en_US.nav fileset be installed first. When the latest level of the bos.info.en_US.nav fileset is installed, any previous level of essl.info.en_US is removed. Before installing the essl.info.en_US fileset, refer to the Special Migration Notes section of the bos.info.en_US fileset for more information.
