Java is an object-oriented programming language developed by Sun Microsystems, Inc.. It is modeled after C++, and was designed to be small, simple, and portable across platforms and operating systems at the source and at the binary level. Java programs (applets and applications) can therefore run on any machine that has installed the Java Virtual Machine (JVM).
