EduQuest Model 40

I picked this up from a computer recycling collection. Don't know much about it, but it is the last IBM Model 25 series system I needed to get. This is much bigger in size than your average Model 25.

At present I do not have much information about operation or maintenance of the system. IBM doesn't appear to have any information concerning it nor does the Web in general. While your EduQuest system may vary a little from these specs, this is how my system is set up right now.

Intel 486SX-25 CPU (soldered) with an OverDrive upgrade socket available.
20MB Installed RAM
1.44 Floppy Disk Drive
1.2GB Hard Disk and Windows 95 OSR 2

DOS 5.0 is in ROM on mine. A Setup utility is built in, there is no reference or starter disk I know of. No idea of how to get into setup other than to hold a key down on the keyboard and cause the system to complain of a keyboard error.

I have found that use of a disk manager (those based on Ontrack software) requires a "cooked" diskette as the EduQuest Model 40 cannot boot the DR-DOS used with Ontrack's solution. I will be providing a "cooked" disk image here soon.

Over 528MB hard disks are not supported without the help of a disk manager program for certain. I don't know if the onboard SCSI supports more disk capacity or if it is even bootable.

You may notice that I don't have a whole lot of information on this system. IBM doesn't seem to have any info that I can find, and I've searched the web only to discover that I am one of the few people providing information on this system. If you have information on either the EduQuest 40 or any EduQuest, and it is preferably of a technical nature, please do send it to me for inclusion on this site.
