Another "Mug Shot"
David's Cat On A Server 500

June 1965 - On this date David was born. He was 9 lbs. 5 oz. & a month overdue. He thinks to this day that is why his Mother mutters under her breath: "That damn kid...". David realized he wasn't firstborn from the graffiti in the womb. He was a quieter baby than his older Brother Kevin, which just meant David's Mom stopped shaking her fist at him as she muttered under her breath...

- David & family move to Silver City, New Mexico. Town Motto: "It's not so bad living in the stixs".

- David overhears his Mother say something about not having another "Watermellon baby". Soon after his Parents adopt another sibling for him: Sister Tami. It's a wonder they never kill each other.

- The Beem family moves into a house the parents would live in for 30 years (His Dad Don buys houses like cars: as soon as one is paid off he trades it in).

- 1984 - David goes through school not even smart enough to turn his 'F's into 'A's on his report card. Does the 5th grade twice for not playing dodgeball correctly. In fear of having a degree to hang on his wall, David gets his GED. The lettering "High School Equivalent" still scares him.

- David joins the Navy to figure out what he doesn't want to do. He becomes a sonarman on a minesweeper & learns that people don't plant mines in the pleasant parts of the world.

- David goes directly from E-2 to E-4. He discovers the best benefit of the promotion is not being called "Seaman" anymore.

- Since David skipped E-3, he goes back to pick up that rank for another 18 months. He is called "Seaman" again.

- David's first tour of the Persian Gulf.

- David's second tour of the Persian Gulf.

- David's third tour of the Persian Gulf. Shortly afterwards his Commanding Officer wonders why David is getting out of the Navy...

- David boomerangs back home to Silver City to pretty much do what he did before the Navy: Sleep & go to class (as long as it's not too early in the morning). Soon he gets into the Navy Reserves for the next year & a half.

- David buys his first mountain bike & second car, after his first car attempts to "compact" itself even more. He finally gets stationed on his first real ship in the Navy Reserves. He never goes aboard the USS Texas when he was part of her Reserve complement, but could correctly point to the ship's picture on the wall in the land-locked El Paso, Texas Reserve center.

- David figures the Navy will never be able to sail out of El Paso & transfers to the Army Reserves in Silver City. He has to drop a paygrade back to E-3, lower than what he was at the start of 1986. Since this is the Army, he isn't called "Seaman" anymore; He learns he is only called "Privates" when he is around others of the same rank. He compensates by becoming more of a loner.

- David gains back E-4, but stays that rank another 5 years.

- David starts a job at a business that changes it's name so much he doesn't know what it will be called the next morning. He gets about 4 different business cards over the next 4 years working for the same place. David buys his second bike.

- David buys his truck a year to the day from buying his second bike.

- David struggles to finish college. With the degree phobia still in place, he actually does worse on his third time taking Calculus than he did the first two. Still is a terminal Senior.

- David's parents run away from home & him. He has nothing left to do but buy the house he grew up in. Thinks his Mom Lawana left so easy to move away from Dad's junk. David gets promoted to managing himself at work. Some of the time he has workers that humor him by calling him boss.

- David's 85 year old Grandmother gets remarried after being a widow 25 years. David endures jokes about his Granny getting more action than he does.

- David is voted "Forecaster of the Future" in "Psychic Weekly" magazine.
