Limitations

  • IBM RS/6000 Notebook 860 may not meet the requirement of Safety and EMC in Korea.

  • When secondary hard disk drive adapter is installed in CD-ROM drive bay, CD-ROM drive cannot be used.

  • The keyboard is an integral part of the system. It cannot be interchanged as can other RS/6000 keyboards. Key caps cannot be exchanged.

  • The Keyboard/Mouse Y connector (#8282) is required when attaching an external keyboard to the system via the keyboard/mouse port.

  • When running AIX with a tablet instead of the TrackPoint III in the AIXwindow environment, execution of rmdev -1 mouse0 at the command line is necessary before starting the AIXwindow environment.

  • Audio support under AIX requires IBM Ultimedia Services Version 2.1.5, or later.

  • The following functions are supported/implemented with the operating system environment:
    • Motion video capability in GT20 Graphics Adapter
    • Video out function
    • Audio functions
    • Power management functions
    • Suspend/hibernation mode
    • Removal/installation of PCMCIA card during power-on state
    • 1.2MB mode of diskette drive

  • PC Card point enablers may write directly to the hardware, bypassing Socket and Card Services. Writing directly to the hardware may cause problems that cannot be anticipated. Point enablers may interface with client device drivers that do communicate with Socket and Card Services. Additional customer testing in their specific environment is recommended.

  • When two Type II PCMCIA communications cards are installed, cable interference may allow only one card to be used.

Hardware Requirements

Not applicable.

Software Requirements

The following operating system must be ordered and loaded:

  • IBM AIX Version 4.1.5 for Clients

No Charge Specify Codes Special Feature Codes -- Chargeable Feature Exchanges

No Charge Specify Codes

(#0001) After Market Order Specify

(For IBM US, No Longer Available as of November 11, 1997)

Feature 0001 may be used for MES ordering. This feature prevents configuration checking and allows "bulk quantity" ordering. It does not have to be repeated for subsequent MES orders for the same machine.

(#5005) Software Pre-install Indicator

(For IBM US, No Longer Available as of November 11, 1997)

Feature 5005 indicates that customer desires software ordered to be pre-loaded. The software has to be ordered separately.

Special Feature Codes -- Chargeable

Special Feature Name and Number

The following is a list of all feature codes in numeric order.

Attributes, as defined in the following feature descriptions, state the interaction of requirements among features.

Minimums and maximums are the absolute limits for a single feature without regard to interaction with other features. The maximum valid quantity for MES orders may be different than for initial orders. The maximums listed below refer to the largest quantity of these two possibilities.

The order type defines if a feature can be ordered only on initial orders, only on MES orders, on both initial and MES orders, or if a feature is supported on a model due to a model conversion. Supported features cannot be ordered on the converted model, only left on or removed from the converted model.

(#0986) CCS Customer Service Specify (US)

(For IBM US, No Longer Available as of November 11, 1997)

This feature specifies that the system will receive special request services from the Center for Customized Solutions (CCS)
