Description
This file is intended to correct problems associated with Aptiva systems with Windows 95 preloaded that are running in MS-DOS compatibility mode and have lost use of the CD-ROM drive. This file may also be used to prevent the problem from occurring. It should be reapplied after any re-install of the preload.
This file also applies to Service Level H and I systems that have been upgraded to Windows 95 or were pre-installed. This file is not designed for use with any other Service Level or operating system.

To download the file, read the following:
1. Click on file icon,
2. Pick OK to copy file to your local disk,
3. Save as file name, "OPTCDFIX.EXE" and select drive "C" . Choose OK. This will download the file to your hard disk.
4. At a DOS or OS/2 prompt type "OPTCDFIX". This command will explode the file from the hard drive to a floppy disk. Follow the prompts and insert a floppy disk into drive A. Installation instructions can be found in the README.TXT file on the diskette once it is created. You may view the README.TXT file by using a text editor, i.e. type "edit a:\readme.txt" at a C:\ prompt.
