Additional Information:

The program used to make the BIOS diskette self-extracting does not support Windows NT. This program does support all operating systems which were preloaded on Aptiva systems that require BIOS updates.

An issue with the BIOS in these systems has been identified and fixed. To apply this fix, you will have to first identify the current level of BIOS on your system. To find out what level of BIOS your system currently has, do the following:

1. Shut the system down normally.
2. Turn the system on. Press F1 when you see the IBM Aptiva screen come up to go to the configuration utility.
3. In the configuration utility, go to the selection for Product Information.

In the product information screen, you will see a reference such as "JW3EN2E". The last two characters may be different on your machine than what you see here.

If the next to last character is a "2", please download XA1FLASH.EXE from this document.

If the next to the last character is a "3", follow this link to get the proper BIOS update .
