IBM IntelliStation/IBM PC - Flashing an IBM PCI network controller to LSA2 (for DHCP)

The instructions below are for the flashing of each particular NIC adapter:
Please download the appropriate file to flash your card:

- IBM 10/100 EtherJet PCI Adapters WOL - File name is: ETPFLSH.EXE

- IBM PCI Token Ring WOL Adapter - File name is: PCIFLSHD.EXE

- For the IBM Ethernet controller integrated into your motherboard, acquire and flash the BIOS for your machine.

IBM EtherJet 10/100 PCI WOL adapter and IBM PCI Token Ring WOL adapter:
Once you have downloaded the proper diskette please run the executable file and it will extract itself to a diskette. Then:

1. Place the diskette in drive A:
2. Shutdown and reboot system
3. When prompted, enter D for DHCP

IBM Ethernet controller integrated onto the motherboard:
Once you have downloaded the proper diskette please run the executable file and it will extract itself to a diskette then...

1. Please make note of any settings that you may have changed in the configuration utility. They may have to be re-entered after updating the BIOS.

2. Put the flash update diskette in the floppy drive and power up the system.

You are prompted to select your country and press Enter.

The serial number is displayed and you are asked if you would like to update the serial number.

If you answer "Y" then you are prompted to enter the correct number.
If you answer "N" then . . .

The machine type/model is displayed and you are asked if you would like to update the model/type.

If you answer "Y" then you are prompted to enter the correct number.
If you answer "N" then . . .

3. The current BIOS level on the computer is compared to that on the flash update diskette.

If the levels are the same, a message is displayed stating:

"The POST/BIOS code in the system is the same version as that on the diskette. Press Enter to continue. Press Esc to cancel.

If the levels are different...

If the level on the flash diskette is newer than the ROM a message is displayed stating:

"The system POST/BIOS is being updated. Thismay take up to 2 minutes. Do not power off or or restart the system during this procedure."

If the level on the diskette is older than the ROM a message is displayed stating:

"The POST/BIOS in the system is a newer version than that on the diskette. If you continue, the older version will replace the newer version in the system."

If you press Enter, a message is displayed:

"The system POST/BIOS is being updated. This may take up to 2 minutes. Do not power off or or restart the system during this procedure."

4. The flash BIOS update is now complete. Remove the diskette first, and then press Enter to reboot the system.

Setting the BIOS to DHCP:
Setting onboard Ethernet to DHCP on an IBM IntelliStation or IBM PC Series system:

1. Turn on the computer and watch the screen for the IBM logo to come on.
2. At this point press F1 to go to configuration/setup.
3. In configuration/setup please select Startup from the menu.
4. Select Startup Sequence at the top.
5. Set the primary boot to Network, 2nd to be Diskette, 3rd to CD-ROM (if an option), 4th to Hard Disk.
6. The bottom of this section is Automatic Startup. Enable this and set to the same parameters as above.
7. You can now press Esc to exit out to the main configuration menu.
8. Choose Devices and scroll down to Ethernet.
9. Make sure that Ethernet is enabled and then set the remote option to DHCP.
10. You may now Esc out to the main configuration screen and choose Save and Exit.
