Aptiva - 2140/2142 Internet Explorer 4.0 updates for Microsoft DirectX 5.0 and Crystal Audio drivers

Description These files will update your computer with Microsoft DirectX 5.0, and the latest audio drivers. If you have installed Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or another application which requires DirectX 5.0, you must install this update. This update applies ONLY to IBM Aptiva model 2140 or 2142 that did not include Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0. If Internet Explorer 4.0 was included with your computer, you do not need to apply this update. All necessary updates have already been made for you.

Additional Information:	CAUTION: The file "214X_DX5.EXE" is approximately 5.2 Mb in size. When downloaded and run, it will extract all needed files to the same directory in which the file exists. Do not download this file to your Windows desktop to run. Use the "md" command from a MS-DOS prompt to create the "C:\update" directory as described in the Installation Instructions below. Installation Instructions: 1. Create a directory on your hard drive called "update" using the command "md c:\update". 2. Download or copy the file called "214X_DX5.EXE" to the "C:\update" directory you just created. 3. Close all application which may be running. 4. Click on "START", then click "RUN". 5. Type: "c:\update\214X_DX5.exe" and press <ENTER>. 6. Click on "START", then click "RUN". 7. Type: "c:\update\install.bat" and press <ENTER>. All needed files will be copied to the appropriate directory automatically. 8. When the installation process is complete, you must reboot your computer in order for changes to take effect. 9. Upon reboot, your system will automatically detect and load the new audio drivers. NOTE: You may receive a warning message when the Joystick drivers are loaded. Simply click on "NO" and the process will complete normally.
