Palm OS v3.0.2 Update
This Palm OS v3.0.2 update is designed exclusively for use on IBM WorkPad organizers currently running Palm OS v3.0 software. This update is not intended for use with Palm OS v1.0.x or Palm OS v2.0.x software - if installed, it will have no effect.
Purpose
The Palm OS v3.0.2 software update improves power management when the infrared (IR) function is not in use. If the Beam Receive option in the General Preferences panel is set to Off, the Palm OS v3.0.2 update is designed to reduce the overall power consumption and extend the battery life. The Palm OS v3.0.2 software update is also helpful if you use a WorkPad organizer along with a WorkPad Modem or other modem to establish PPP (point-to-point protocol) connections. The update includes the following features:
Allows HotSync process to be initiated correctly if the organizer automatically shuts off during a PPP session. Solves resource allocation issues, which may "freeze" the organizer when setting up a PPP link while using either a modem or connecting to a Windows RAS server.
Download Palm OS v3.0.2 Update
Download the wpos302.exe (19 KB, self-extracting ZIP file) into a temporary directory on your hard drive.
Installing Palm OS v3.0.2
Users may run either the Windows or Macintosh version of the Palm Install Tool included with the Palm Desktop software to install the update*.
1. Locate the directory where the wpos302.exe file is stored.
2. Double-click on wpos302.exe to extract the file upd302.prc.
Copy the upd302.prc file to the WorkPad directory, under UPDATE, in the v3.00 folder.
3. Launch Palm Desktop 3.0. Select the Install Tool icon.
4. Select the correct user name from the User list.
5. Select the Add button.
6. Locate upd302.prc file in the v3.00 folder in the UPDATE directory and double-click on it.
7. Select Done.
8. Select OK.
During the next HotSync synchronization, the new system software automatically downloads to your Palm III organizer.
