Additional Information:

The program used to make the BIOS diskette self-extracting does not
support Windows NT. This program does support all operating systems
which were preloaded on Aptiva systems that require BIOS updates.

The attached file creates a bootable diskette for updating the BIOS on
Aptiva 2156-D1N and/or D1J systems. This diskette will update the BIOS to
level BKWEN12A.

THIS BIOS IS NOT TO BE USED ON ANY OTHER SYSTEMS.

To install the updated BIOS:

Download the KWFLASH.EXE file to your hard disk.

Create a Diskette that will install updated BIOS on your computer.

1. Click Start -> Find -> Files or folders.
2. Enter KWFLASH.EXE in the find box and click Find Now.
3. When Windows locates the file you just downloaded, double click on the file's icon.
4. You will be asked to insert a blank 3.25" floppy diskette into drive A.
5. Put a blank disk in the floppy drive and press Enter.
6. The program will create a bootable disk for flash updating the BIOS.
7. Leave this diskette in drive A.

Install the updated BIOS in your computer

1. Turn your computer off by clicking Start -> Shutdown. Select Shutdown. Click OK.
2. The computer will turn itself off.
3. Turn the computer on with the diskette that you just created still inserted in drive A.
4. The computer will access drive A. You will see some information displayed on the screen.
5. DO NOT interrupt this process at any time. If you do interrupt this process, it could render
your computer useless.
6. A prompt will appear telling you to power the machine off. Power the machine off by depressing
the power switch and holding it in until the machine turns itself off.
