Years ago, I tried to use a Fujitsu 1.06GB drive with a downlevel Type-1complex BIOS. It did not IML... So I poured out my frustrations onto comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware, and Deux et Machina, here comes a little anti-stat clamshell with two of the Type 1 complex Enhanced BIOS chips. Then I got swamped with emails on >1GB support enhanced BIOS, so I put up a single page with instructions on >1GB support on 8595s, and it snowballed from there...
