Synopsis

Information on this page has been taken from documentation provided on the Internet by Invisible Software. Parts of the information may also apply to other NE/2 adapters, because the original manufacturer has supplied these adapters to other vendors. Pointers to the Invisible Software website contributed by Louis Ohland.

The Invisible Ethernet-2 and Ethernet-2A adapters of Invisible Software are Netware NE/2-compatible adapters. The adapters can be identified by a large square chip labelled with the part number EN5001 on the board. The Ethernet-2/A board has coax and AUI connectors. The Ethernet 2T/A board has twisted-pair and AUI connectors.

Jumper Settings

The Ethernet-2/A has one jumper JP1 (also labelled BNC) used to select the media type:

• Insert the jumper to select coax. Remove the jumper to select AUI.

The Ethernet-2T/A has three jumpers:

  • Jumper block JP1 on the main board (also labelled COAXIAL and TWISTED PAIR) is used to select the media type. This is a jumper block which holds eight separate jumpers. Move all eight jumpers to the side labeled TWISTED PAIR to select twisted pair. Move all eight jumpers to the side labeled COAXIAL to select AUI.
  • Jumper JP1 on the 10BASE-T daughter board controls the SQE (Signal Quality Error) test. Insert the jumper to disable SQE, or remove the jumper to enable SQE. Normally, this jumper is inserted, so that SQE is normally disabled.
  • Jumper JP2 on the 10BASE-T daughter board controls the Link Integrity test. Insert the jumper to enable the test, or remove the jumper to disable the test. Normally, this jumper is inserted, so that the Link Integrity test is normally enabled.

Drivers

Use the Netware NE/2 drivers normally provided with the operating system.
