Abstract: S3 VIDEO: DIFFERENT DRIVERS NEEDED FOR DIFFERENT REVISIONS

There are two different revisions of the S3 video adapter that could ship in the Netfinity 3500 or 3500-M10.
The two revisions (C and D) require separate drivers under Windows NT to function correctly.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

The system is any of the following IBM Netfinity servers:
a Netfinity 3500-M10 server, Type 8655, any Model. a Netfinity 3500 server, Type 8644, any Model.
The following NOS is affected:
Microsoft Windows NT, version 4.0
The system has the described symptom.

FIX:

Please read and understand the following text file:

Download the following:
ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pub/pccbbs/pc_servers/09n7725a.exe
Run Checkrev.exe.
Note: This utility will determine which revision of card is installed in the server.
From there the correct driver can be installed.
Install the correct driver.

For Rev C video Card (Option P/N 00N9275, FRU P/N 00N9276):

NT device driver should be: 4.055.128E1

For Rev D video Card (Option P/N 01N2830, FRU P/N 09N5898):

NT device driver should be: 4.055.131
