Abstract: MSCS MULTINODE FAILOVER: MAY REQUIRE CHCS.DLL PATCH

SYMPTOM:

When failing one (1) or more nodes under IBM Netfinity Availability Extensions for MSCS (Microsoft Cluster Service), all the nodes will give a timed shutdown message and then reboot.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

•  The system is any of the following IBM Netfinity servers:   a Netfinity 7000-M10 server, Type 8680, any Model.   a Netfinity 5500-M20 server, Type 8662, any Model.
•  The following NOS is affected:   Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition, version 4.0 with   Service Pack 4 applied.
•  The system has the described symptom.

FIX:

Apply CHCS.dll fix.

Note: IBM Netfinity availability extensions for MSCS is available as part of a complete solutions package.
It is currently not available for download.
The referenced file is available from the IBM Netfinity Availability Extensions for MSCS CD.

Installation Instructions:

From the HOTFIX directory on the CD; run Install.bat or manually copy over the CHCS.DLL file to the following directory:

Program Files\ibm\IBM Cluster Systems Management\bin

DETAILS:

When one or more nodes fail under IBM Netfinity Availability Extensions for MSCS, a signal is sent to the other nodes, this signal is misinterpreted by the other nodes as a internal NT failure and will give a timed message indicating that the node will shut down in about 15 seconds.
