Abstract: NETWORK PORT ASSIGNMENTS DON'T MATCH NT NETWORK PROPERTIES
TEXT:
Network port assignments don't match NT network properties
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
Microsoft Windows NT, version 4.0 with Service Pack 5 applied.
DETAILS:
The Netfinity 4000R server has two (2) on-board Ethernet adapter ports.
When the BIOS scans the bus for the adapters, they are numbered 1and 2 on the front panel indicator lights.
When Microsoft Windows NT is installed the same adapters are numbered 2 and 1, and do not correspond to the indicator lights on the front
panel of the server.
Microsoft Windows NT scans for Network adapters differently than the BIOS and because of this the adapters will show up in reversed order.
Note: This does not affect server stability or data integrity.
