PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

FIX:

  1.  Apply the IBM Drive Update Program to the HDD(s) by flashing with new microcode.

The four (4) IBM Drive Update Program image files are available from the following URL:

    http://www.pc.ibm.com/searchfiles.html
search on "IBM Drive Update Program"

The corresponding text files are viewable online and may be printed.

Note: When the program is started, it may find other hard files in the
system that it can upgrade. It is recommended that these also be upgraded.

To create the update diskettes; downloaded the four (4) ".exe" files listed after
searching on IBM Drive Update Program.
These files are self-extracting executable files that will prompt for diskettes.
Follow instructions on the display to create the diskettes.

  2.  Boot system with the diskette built from the neptsab0.emt image.
  3.  Select option 2 - Adaptec PWS ASPI Driver

Note: The Monitor will display that ASPI driver was installed successfully.

  4.  At DOS prompt, type NEPCODE then press the 'Enter' key.

Note: The program will locate attached drives through the adapter and
download the SAB0 code to each HDD.

Program will terminate when finished and indicate how many drives found and how many were updated.
