Abstract: TR4 FIRMWARE UPDATE AVAILABLE FOR IDE TR4 AND SCSI TR4(STT)

SYMPTOM:

•  Spent cleaning cartridges causing drive belt to come off.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

•  IBM TR4 4.0/8.0GB Internal SCSI Tape Drive, Option P/N 06H9716 FRU p/n28L1599 or P/N 09N0813.
•  IBM TR4 4/8GB Internal IDE Tape Drive, Option P/N 06H9720, FRU P/N 10L6039

FIX:

Applying the latest firmware revision fixes the loose drive belt problem, and increases the cleaning cartridge life from 8 to 28 cleansings.

For the TR4 SCSI firmware update use TR4V344.EXE.
For the TR4 IDE firmware update use TR4V544.EXE.
