Abstract: ECA033: NETWORK FAILURE/SYSTEM MANAGEMENT ADAPTER CONNECTION
PURPOSE:
This ECA provides for the replacement of a limited number of Netfinity Advanced System Management PCI Adapters, that will
not function properly, due to a duplicate MAC address conflict.
This ECA is "MANDATORY".
To order this ECA, contact your IBM Branch Office, Central Response Office or Designated Country ECA Coordinator.
This ECA is scheduled to be withdrawn July 30, 2006.

On the adapter, the header code is located under the barcode:

Note: This adapter is standard in the Netfinity 7000-M10 server and can be purchased as an option.
DETAIL:
Replace the adapter with one that does not have a conflicting and/or duplicate MAC address.
The MAC addresses were duplicated at two vendor manufacturing locations.
Both cards will function, but not on the same network when using the Advanced System Management PCI Ethernet
or Token Ring connections.
This ECA applies if EITHER of the following is correct:
Note: FRU stock has been reworked and FRU part numbers are not affected.
Note: To identify the Option - Check the manufacturing location and the header code on the box.
If it is labeled Assembled in Mexico (located near the center of the label), check the header code for J1Y1W on the bottom center of the box label.
If J1Y1W is on the box (bottom center) or the adapter (under the barcode), replace the adapter.
PARTS DISPOSITION:
The removed parts are the property of IBM and should be returned to Endicott as per your country guidelines and
local branch office procedures.
USA:
IBM PSS/TSS CE's should record all time and parts to Service Code 33, ECA033, Other Office 990.
