Abstract: PCI SLOT DOES NOT POWER ON DURING HOT ADD
SYMPTOM:
If while you are adding a Hot-Plug PCI card, the locating tab mechanism is flicked up and down,
the PCI card will power on, then off and then may not power back up.
This will be indicated by the green Hot-Plug power status LED not illuminating when
the card is inserted and latched in place.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
a Netfinity 8500R server, Type 8681, any Model.
a Netfinity 7000-M10 server, Type 8680, any Model.
a Netfinity 5600 server, Type 8664, any Model.
a Netfinity 5500-M20 server, Type 8662, any Model.
a Netfinity 5500-M10 server, Type 8661, any Model.
a Netfinity 5500 server, Type 8660, any Model.

FIX:
It is recommended that the hot-plug PCI latch mechanism be folded down onto the PCI I/O bracket
and held down while the orange locating flag is rotated to hold the PCI card in place.
This will prevent the latch from moving back into the open position and switching off
power to the card.
If the green Hot-Plug power status LED does not illuminate when the PCI card
has been added and fixed in place with the latch mechanism, remove the card, fold down
the latch on the empty slot to reset the slot state to empty, lift the latch, and reinsert following
the procedure above.
