Abstract: WINDOWS NT MAY CRASH WHILE RUNNING FINDFAST.EXE

TEXT:

Windows NT may crash while running Findfast.exe

SYMPTOMS:

•  STOP or bluescreen error message with the following parameters:

         STOP 0x0000001E
         (0xc0000005,0xa0055c99,0x00000000,0x00000008)
  

•  The system supports Windows NT Server 4.0.
•  The system has a Service Pack less than 6 applied.
•  The system's Diagnostics Pass.
•  The system is configured with findfast.exe in Microsoft Office 97.
•  The system has the described symptom.

WORKAROUND:

Remove Findfast.exe from the system Startup group:

Click Start/Settings/Taskbar
Click the Start Menu Programs tab
Click Remove
Double Click the Startup folder
Click Findfast.exe
Click the Remove button
Click the Yes button to move Findfast to the recycle bin
Click the Close button, then the Cancel button
