Do not use OS/2 Video Drivers on S3 Video Driver CD.
SYMPTOMS:
The system will hang with a TRAP 3 or TRAP E error, while using video intensive
applications such as Mahjongg or Klondike Solitaire, or by trying to use one of the color
palettes to change the background color of a window.
Isolated hang problems result from using this OS/2 Video Device Driver. (Version 6.10.10).
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
FIX:
There is no fix for the CD. Please see workaround.
WORKAROUND:
The OS/2 Video Device Driver (6.10.12) that appears on the ServerGuide CD, version 5.01, CAN be used.
The proper Video Driver for OS/2 is also available from the IBM Netfinity Support Website at the
following URL:
http://www.ibm.com/netfinity
click on Support on the left side,
choose 3500 M10 in the scroll box,
select Downloadable Files,
select Video.
Note: The driver is located at the bottom of the page with the
name "Netfinity 3500 M10 - S3 Video Device Driver for OS/2, Version 6.10.12".
For more information on installing OS/2, refer to the same website as above except
choose Software Information instead of Downloadable files.
There will be detailed instructions under a link named Netfinity 3500 M10 - Installing OS/2 Warp Server SMP v4.0.
DETAILS:
A down-level video driver for OS/2 was placed on the CD included with the system, entitled
"Netfinity 3500 M10 S3 Video Device Drivers for Windows NT 4.0 and OS/2" (Version 1.00).
