Abstract: NETFINITY 5500: DIAGNOSTICS REPORT FAILURE WITH SERVERAID

SYMPTOM:

When the system's diagnostics are used to test the on-board ServeRAID, ServeRAID II or Netfinity ServeRAID 3X adapter, the following message appears in the test log:

"Failure (Config status: basic config status=9, extended config status=0 032-253-000-YYYYMMDD-32-RAID Interface: RAID Adapter Initialization Failure). Could not initialize ServeRAID adapter on bus X in slot X."

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

The system is any of the following IBM Netfinity servers:
a Netfinity 5500-M10 server, Type 8661, any Model. a Netfinity 5500 server, Type 8660, any Model.
The system is configured with the following option(s):
Onboard ServeRAID a ServeRAID II Ultra SCSI Adapter, Option P/N 76H3584 a Netfinity ServeRAID-3L Ultra2 SCSI Adapter, Option P/N 01K7364 a Netfinity ServeRAID-3H Ultra2 SCSI Adapter, Option P/N 01K7207 a Netfinity ServeRAID-3HB Ultra2 SCSI Adapter, Option P/N 37L6086
The system is configured with Netfinity 5500 and 5500 M10 Diagnostic Update Diskette, version 2.02 or lower Diagnostics.
The system's Diagnostics fail.
The system has the described symptom.

FIX:

Download and install IBM Netfinity 5500, 5500-M10 and 5500-M20 Diagnostic Update, version 3.02 or higher.
