8mm MAMMOTH tape drive must be cleaned after using MP media.
SYMPTOMS:
After using the older style MP (Metal Particle) data cartridge, the tape drive rejects the newer style AME
(Advanced Metal Evaporative) data cartridge.

DETAILS:
The MAMMOTH 8mm tape technology uses AME (Advanced Metal Evaporative) media, but is
compatible to the older MP (Metal Particle) media.
However, due to differences in media characteristics, the drive requires MANDATORY cleaning
after use of MP media, and before re-use of AME media.
