Abstract: OS/2 SMP 4.0: SYS1919 ERROR WHEN INSTALLING FROM SERVERGUIDE

TEXT:

OS/2 SMP 4.0: SYS1919 error when installing from ServerGuide.

SYMPTOMS:

When installing OS/2 SMP 4.0 using ServerGuide the following error message could be displayed:

       "SYS1919: The file x:\CID\LOCINSTU\SRVREXX.EXE specified
in the run statement on line yy of the CONFIG.SYS does
not contain a valid program. Line yy is ignored."

Where x is the CD-ROM driver and yy is a line number in the CONFIG.SYS file.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

WORKAROUND:

While installing OS/2 SMP, in the "System Configuration" screen, change the default value ( OTHER ) of the "CD-ROM Device Support" section to the CD-ROM driver installed in your system.
You can change this value as follow:

  1.  Click on the "CD-ROM Device Support" section.
  2.  A list of all CD-ROMs available will be displayed.
  3.  From that list select the CD-ROM in your system

Note: If your CD-ROM is not listed and your system has an IDE CD-ROM select the "Non-listed IDE CD-ROM".

Then continue with the installation.

DETAILS:

This is a limitation in OS/2 SMP 4.0.
This version sometimes can not automatically detect the newest CD-ROMs drives and in order to successfully install OS/2 SMP 4.0 the CD-ROM has to be manually selected.
