Abstract: "HOST CPU" SHOWS UP IN NETFINITY MANAGER 5.20.3 RAID MANAGER

SYMPTOM:

Under RAID Manager there will be a Host CPU image instead of IBM Netfinity 3000.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

The system is one of the following IBM servers:

a Netfinity 3000 server, Type 8476, any Model.
a Netfinity 1000 server, Type 8477, any Model.

The system is configured with one of the following options:

a Netfinity ServeRAID-3H Ultra2 SCSI Adapter, Option P/N 01K7207
a Netfinity ServeRAID-3L Ultra2 SCSI Adapter, Option P/N 01K7364

The system's ServeRAID controller is installed with a RAID configuration of hard drives.
The system has version 5.20.3 of Netfinity Manager installed, from ServerGuide v.4.1.2 (that ships with system), and running per instructions provided.

Netfinity Manager for Windows 95/98/NT (English) version 5.20.4 image file (m524w32e.exe)

The corresponding Text file (m524w32e.TXT) is viewable on-line and may be printed.

To creating a Netfinity Manager for Windows 95/98/NT (English) version 5.20.4 update diskette; the downloaded file (m524w32e.exe) is a self-extracting executable file that will prompt for a diskette.

Follow instructions on the display to create the diskette.

WORKAROUND:

Start the "RAID Manager" service by double-clicking on the icon.
This opens the "Netfinity RAID Manager" window and a generic "Host CPU" image will be displayed.
Select "Options" from the menu, then select "Configure Enclosures".
An enclosure configuration window will be displayed.
Right mouse click the "Host CPU" image, then select "Change Enclosure".
A "Select Enclosure" window will be displayed.
Select "IBM Netfinity 3000" from the list, and click OK.
Select "Options form the menu, then select "Save Configuration".
The correct image configuration is now permanently saved.

DETAILS:

Versions of Netfinity Manager 5.20.3 do not ship with the Netfinity 3000 and are not supported.
