Abstract: IBM NETFINITY 10/100 ETHERNET FOR NW411 WON'T LOAD

SYMPTOM:

The message "Unable to load the IBM Netfinity 10/100 Ethernet driver" or "Unable to load IBM 10/100 Etherjet driver" may be displayed while installing Novell IntraNetWare 4.11 from ServerGuide 4.12.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

The system is any of the following IBM servers:

a Netfinity 7000-M10 server, Type 8680, any Model. a Netfinity 7000 server, Type 8651, any Model. a Netfinity 5500-M20 server, Type 8662, any Model. a Netfinity 5500-M10 server, Type 8661, any Model. a Netfinity 5500 server, Type 8660, any Model. a Netfinity 5000 server, Type 8659, any Model. a Netfinity 3500 server, Type 8644, any Model. a Netfinity 3000 server, Type 8476, any Model.

The system is configured with the following option(s):

IBM Netfinity 10/100 Ethernet LAN Adapter, P/N 34L0901 IBM 10/100 Etherjet LAN Adapter, P/N 08L2549

The IBMFE.LAN Device Driver for the IBM Netfinity 10/100 Ethernet/IBM 10/100 Etherjet Adapter is affected.
The system is configured with Novell NetWare 4.1x.

FIX:

Fix will be in next release of ServerGuide.

WORKAROUND:

Defer the installation of the adapter. When NW411 is completely installed, apply the NW 411 FixPack that comes on the IBM SoftwareGuide FixPack CD. Restart the NetWare server and load/install the driver.
