Abstract: PC SERVER 320/520 WILL NOT BOOT DIAGNOSTIC DISKETTE

PC Server 320/520 will not boot diagnostic diskette

SYMPTOMS:

If the diagnostic diskette is booted, the system completes POST and beeps once to indicate the completion of POST.
The LED on the floppy comes on and then goes off. The system never or intermittently boots the diagnostic diskette.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

•  The system is a PC Server 320 server, Type 8640, any EISA/PCI model.
•  The system is a PC Server 520 server, Type 8641, any EISA/PCI model.
•  The system is attached to a monochrome monitor.
•  The system is being booted to QAPLUS v5.32 Diagnostics Diskette.

WORKAROUND:

Run diagnostics with a color monitor.
