SYMPTOM:

System will fail I2C tests when running down level diagnostics.
There can be other diagnostic tests failing as well.


PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:


FIX:

DIAGNOSTICS VERSION 21A. This version is 1.00 and can be found on the following URL address:

http://www.pc.ibm.com/support?page=IBM+PCSERVER

Go to download files and access diagnostics for M10.
File names are Diagnostics Flash Diskette Version 1.00. Disk 1 is 33L3574 and disk 2 is 33L3575.


WORKAROUND:

Check level of system diagnostics.
If diagnostics is below Version 21, flash up to Diagnostics Version 21.
Latest version of diagnostics is located on the WEB.
It will be the M10 Diagnostic diskette Version 1.00. There are 2 flash disks needed to do update process.


DETAILS:

You can determine level of diagnostics on system as follows:

  1.  Enter system setup (F1).

    1.  System Information.
    2.  Product Data.
    3.  Check diagnostics level.
       Correct build level is Version 21 dated 09/03/98.

  2.  Enter diagnostics (F2).

    1.  Quit.
    2.  About.
    3.  Look at the 4th line, right side. It will state build level.
       Version 21 is correct level.
