DDS/3 Tape drive 01K1282 requires Firmware update 7.35e.

SYMPTOMS:

7.35e Firmware provides several fixes and enhancements to improve field performance of the 12/24GB DDS/3 tape drive.

•  Enhanced error recovery for some types of MEDIA errors.
•  Enhanced error recovery for some types of LOAD errors.
•  Enhanced error recovery for marginal media.
•  Fix for some types of E6084 errors as reported by CA Arcserve or ARCserveIT application software.
•  Fix for some types of TIMEOUTS seen in multi-partition applications.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

•  IBM 12/24GB DDS/3 tape drive (p/n01K1282)
•  The firmware of the tape drive is below 7.35e.

FIX:

7.35e firmware files and a SCSI Bus download utility are available at the following URL:

http://www.pc.ibm.com/searchfiles.html
search for "1224" - file name is 1224v735.exe.

WORKAROUND:

No workaround available, firmware upgrade is highly recommended for any customer using CA ARCserve or ARCserveIT application software, and for any other customer experiencing intermittent customer problems.
In most cases, this fix should be applied BEFORE replacing customer's drive.
