Netfinity 5500 M10 Planar CMOS battery.


SYMPTOMS:

161 or 162 error - system will not retain date/time if wall power is removed.


PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:


FIX:

  1.  Update the firmware for the Advanced System Management Processor with
     diskette V1.02 (P/N 33L3961), or higher, available form the following URL:

    http://www.pc.ibm.com/searchfiles.html

  2.  Then replace Planar CMOS battery.


NOTE: Please make sure that all customer settings are carried across to newly reset system code (CMOS Set-up).
