Abstract: DOS FDISK REPORTS no FIXED DISKS PRESENT with PCI RAID

TEXT:

Please read both of the following options before choosing the appropriate one:

Option 1:

If you have saved a copy of your RAID configuration prior to having this problem, use this file to restore your original configuration. This will erase your current array/logical drive configuration.

NOTE: Please note that if a hot spare (HSP) was defined and a drive went defunct (DDD), the hot spare would have replaced the defunct drive.
When this happens the configuration that was originally saved to diskette will no longer be valid.
In this case you should NOT restore your saved configuration file from diskette because it will corrupt your data.
You should use option 2 if this has occurred or if you are uncertain.

FDISK should now work.

Option 2:

If you do not have a saved copy of your RAID configuration call the IBM HelpCenter to obtain the IBM PCI RAID FDISK diskette.

Using this diskette and the instructions given below will reconfigure your RAID adapter so that FDISK will work.

NOTE: You WILL lose your array/logical drive configuration and you will have to reconfigure you array. If you have an operating system or data on your drives, you should record your array/logical drive size and type (type would be RAID 5, RAID 1, or RAID 0) so that you can reconfigure your array. Call the IBM HelpCenter if you need help understanding how to record this information.

When the server reboots you should see the following during POST:

IBM RAID Adapter BIOS Version x.xx - date
       RAID Firmware Version x.xx
No log drives found: none installed
       Press any key to continue

FDISK should now see the fixed disks in DOS.
The file can be downloaded from the following:
