Abstract: ERRONEOUS ECC errors detected by NETFINITY manager 5.1

SYMPTOM:

The following Netfinity Manager Alerts are displayed when Netfinity Manager Completes loading upon System Boot:

   "<time> <date> A correctable ECC Memory error has occurred at
    address 0xYYYYYYYY"
   "<time> <date> A uncorrectable ECC Memory error has occurred at
    address 0xZZZZZZZZ"
    Where <time> and <date> are the current time and date at the
    System, and YYYYYYYY, ZZZZZZZZ are 2 hexadecimal numbers.


PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

All of the following must be true for this TIP to apply:

•  The System is any model PC Server 704 Type 8650 OR  any model Netfinity 7000 server Type 8651 properly  configured with supported Memory.
•  The System is running any Supported version of OS/2 Warp.
•  The System is running Netfinity Manager version 5.1
•  System Diagnostics pass.

FIX:

1.  Download the following Netfinity version-specific patch that  applies to the System configuration:

          NF5102US.EXE                        5.10.20
          NF5103US.EXE                        5.10.30
    

   The Netfinity patch image-files listed above are available  at the IBM Website at the following URL:

   http://www.pc.ibm.com/files.html

   •  Select "Search"
   •  Type NF51 in the Keywords box
   •  Select "Search"
   •  Select the required patch (as listed above) to download
   •  Select and print the associated readme file

    The files are self-extracting executable files that will  create a diskette.

2.  Extract and apply the patch per the instructions listed in  the printout (above) of the readme file.
