ECA 032 - mandatory - SCSI Adapter/A

Mandatory replacement of SCSI adapter FRU P/N 15F6561

PURPOSE:
To make available to the field a mandatory replacement SCSI (small computer systems interface) adapter without cache memory, option 6451109, FRU P/N 85F0002, in replacement for option 6451005, FRU P/N 15F6561, as a precautionary measure due to the possibility of undetected data modification in certain data transfer operations.

The part numbers have changed as follows:

PHYSICAL check:
The SCSI adapter without cache memory is identified by the IBM FRU part number 15F6561 on the bottom edge of the component side of the adapter.

DETAIL:
SCSI adapters meeting the description in the physical check must be replaced with the current level FRU P/N 85F0002 at the earliest possible opportunity.

NOTEs:
Only SCSI adapters meeting the physical description are eligible for this ECA:.

Any systems after the serial numbers listed below will have the new level of card installed by manufacturing and therefore do not require the update.

Order parts using normal FRU parts ordering procedures

Return all used parts using normal upr parts return procedures.
