Configuring for DOS and Windows 3.1

Configuring for DOS and Windows 3.1

To configure the Ethernet adapter for the DOS and Windows 3.1 operating systems:
  1.  If your server has 100/10 PCI Ethernet network drivers  installed, restart the server without loading them. That is,  if the drivers are loaded from the AUTOEXEC.BAT file,  add REM in front of each line that loads a driver.  Or, initialize the server from an operating-system diskette.
  2.  Insert the Ethernet Configuration and Drivers diskette in drive A, and switch to that drive. At  the operating-system prompt, type SETUP. Then, press Enter.
  3.  If you have more than one Ethernet adapter in your  server, a menu appears on the screen. Select  the adapter that you want to install and test.
  4.  Select Automatic Setup from the Main Menu and follow  the instructions on the window. (Refer to 'Testing the Adapter with a Responder on the Network' for  information on testing the adapter with a responder.)

The Ethernet Configuration and Drivers program displays information on the  configuration of the adapter and performs a  series of diagnostic tests that ensure the adapter and  network are functioning correctly. If the Ethernet Configuration and Drivers program finds a problem, it  displays the results and some possible solutions.

  5.  When the Ethernet Configuration and Drivers program completes the tests,  the Install network drivers window appears.
  6.  Select the driver you want to install.

If you are installing other drivers, the Ethernet Configuration and Drivers program displays  a help file with installation instructions.
